Using Automate to Stop Sound Lowering
For this guide you’ll need to download and install an app from the Google Play Store called Automate. The app you’re looking for is from a developer named LlamaLab. With this app you’ll be able to change settings when certain actions on your device occur. Once you have downloaded Automate, tap the ‘+’ button at the top of the screen to create a new Flow.
Once you’ve created a new Flow, you’ll have a page that’s mostly empty. You can make changes to this page by tapping the menu button in the top left. There are many things you can do with Automate so you may want to spend some time to get to grips with the app. However, if you’d only like to use the app to stop sound lowering when you plug headphones in, simply follow the steps provided below. Firstly, tap the menu button in the top left corner. Next, tap the Camera & Sound option. Doing so will open up a new list of options to choose from.
To begin with you’ll need to tap on the option that reads ‘Audio Volume?’ By doing this, a new block will appear on your empty page. Next, tap the empty block and a new settings menu will open. You’ll need to make some changes to the settings menu. Make sure you follow the steps below carefully.
You will now need to choose a new block from within the settings menu. Tap the Menu Button in the top left again. This time, under Camera & Sound and choose ‘audio volume set.’
The Audio Volume set block will appear on your empty page, just like the ‘Audio Volume?’ block did. Next, tap the Audio Volume Set block and follow the steps provided below.
Once you’ve created these two blocks you’ll need to connect them together.
You can now tap on the tick button in the top right corner. A new page will appear that will let you start the process. Before tapping start, tap the ‘install permission’ button to ensure that Automate has the permissions it needs to adjust the audio volume.
Once you tap that button, you’ll need to download another app that sets permissions. Once installed, you can press back and you’ll now be able to run the process. Simply tap the start button at this point. To make sure everything works, ensure that you press the ‘start’ setting when you are ready to begin the process. Unfortunately, you’ll need to bring up the app to start the process each time you unplug your headphones. However, with this method you can pre-emptively stop the sound from lowering every time you insert your headphones into your device.
