It doesn’t imply that The First Soldier will stop getting updates right away, at least not until the service ends. Even though there are just a few months left till the servers are permanently shut down, Square Enix has plans to add new content to the battle royale. The main issue that the company faced was the overall user experience. In its early stages, the game’s server instability made it impossible for players using low to mid-range mobile devices to enjoy it. Yet another factor was that the game’s popularity never really took off, despite high hopes. Battle Royale games clearly aren’t selling well enough for Square Enix. Final Fantasy’s premium currency, Shinra Credits, are no longer available for purchase in-game. However existing Shinra Credits will remain usable until the game’s end. The game will completely shut down on January 11, 2023, but support for languages other than English will expire on November 1, 2022. By seeing the trends in the community, it is pretty obvious that if a game has poor reception or for some reason, it fails to take off, it is very hard for the developers to sustain the damage, and more often than not, like Babylon’s Fall (no pun intended) the game ends up shutting down or slowly dying off. However, after the announcement, we will have to wait and see how the players and community in general reacts to the news.
