As such, there is a chance you will miss some of the biggest shows to ever be produced.  However, I have taken the initiative to compile a list of what I would call the 10 best anime shows for you to watch. Some have been around for a while but I see them as timeless masterpieces that will still impress you.

1. Attack on Titan

Attack on Titan took everyone by surprise when it first came out back in 2013. Although the show had an impressive manga already going on, seeing it on the silver screen made it all the more impressive. If you are a fan of intense, fast-paced action, then Attack on Titan is certainly the show that you should be watching. The gorgeous art style combined with high octane action makes this show one of the best that you can. Genre: Action, Fantasy Episodes: 108

2. My Hero Academia

Even though My Hero Academia has only been around for 4 years, it has managed to amass an impressive fan following. The show depicts how it feels to be someone with no superpowers in a world full of superheroes. A rather interesting take on a formula that has been used in so many different ways. This is certainly one of those anime that you can start and binge-watch. Genre: Fantasy, Action, Comedy Episodes: 140

3. Black Clover

Who does not like a show that is full of magic, as well as swords, and undertones of pirates? Black Clover is definitely the show that you should be going for if you are looking for something that will get you hooked. Although there is just one season, so far. But we can assure you that 102 episodes are going to keep you hooked for the foreseeable future. Genre: Action, Fantasy, Adventure Episodes: 102

4. Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood

If you are looking for a show that is extremely popular, then the Fullmetal Alchemist is one of the most popular. Ever since its release, the show has become one of the best shows available for you to stream. You can watch it on Netflix as well as Hulu, and the best thing is that for the purists, you can watch the show in its native language with subs. However, if you are a modernist, the show is also available in the dubbed version. Rest assured, this is definitely something that is going to have you hooked. Genre: Action, Fantasy, Adventure Episodes: 126

5. Girls und Panzer

if you are looking for something cute, but also great amount of storytelling, then you should definitely check Girls Und Panzer. The first few episodes might put you off, but trust us when we say, you are going to love this show once you start digging in. It is one of the best shows available, and will definitely give you an enjoyable experience. Just one thing to note, however, this show is only available with subs, so keep that in mind. Genre: Action, Adventure Episodes: 14

6. One-Punch Man

This was, without doubt, the biggest anime release of 2015. It features a superhero with the ability to destroy his enemies with just one punch. The irony of it is that he had been training for years to be a superhero without realizing he was the best. He actually loses his hair while training. However, when nothing challenges you in life, it can get boring. The show, therefore, follows the exploits of Saitama, as the hero is called, as he tries to find a worthy opponent. One Punch Man is basically about man’s meaningless pursuit for \a life that is so full of vain. You will feel sorry for Saitama since as great a hero he is, he leads such an empty life. The show also incorporates some comedy elements that you will find hard to ignore. Genre: Action, Comedy, Sci-Fi Episodes: 36

7. Elfen Lied

I still remember the time my friend asked to me watch Elfen Lied, and while I was a bit hesitant first because I have never been a fan of anime, but if I am to credit one anime for changing my perception, it would be Elfen Lied. Comprising only of 13 episodes, this is one of the best shows you can watch and I say that with complete conviction. If you are looking for something really, really good, this is the show that you should watch. it is good beyond any explanation. Genre: Action, Science Fiction, Fantasy Episodes: 13

8. Toradora!

Anime has its own share of romance too. This show tells a love story of Ryuji Takasu and Taiga Aisaka but it is not love at first sight for these two. Ryuji and Taiga have very contrasting personalities and will initially hate each other. Although gentle at heart, Ryuji, unfortunately, inherited his father’s evil look that intimidates people at first sight. Taiga, on the other hand, is quite adorable but has the personality of a wounded lion. Perhaps to compensate for her small stature. Nonetheless, a relationship slowly buds as these two spend time together thanks to a mutual friend. This anime is full of humor but there will be some tear-jerking moments too. Genre: Comedy, Drama, Romance Episodes: 25

9. Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma

This anime follows the life of Soma Yukihira who has a dream to be a renowned chef and outdo his dad’s culinary skills. He has to overcome various challenges to be able to graduate from one of the toughest culinary academies. The visuals in this game are so great that you could actually watch it with no sound or subtitles and still enjoy it. The food wars as described in the title can be quite rousing too. Genre: Adventure, Comedy Episodes: 24

10. Samurai Champloo

A young waitress, Fuu, is attacked by a band of Samurais while at work but is saved by two warriors, Mugen and Jin. When Mugen realizes how great a warrior Jin is, he challenges him to a fight that leads to the death of a magistrate’s son. To escape the wrath of the law, these two join Foo in her search for the “samurai who smells of sunflowers.” The show fuses the samurai culture and the hip-hop culture in a ridiculous but funny kind of way. It also highlights perfectly the constant struggle for humans to belong. Each episode is about characters trying to fit into a world that has refused to embrace them. You will find yourself relating to most of the topics and at the same laughing at the lighthearted manner in which they are portrayed. Genre: Action, Adventure, Comedy, Samurai Episodes: 26
